FAQ

Common questions, answered.

Everything about our materials, bookings, classes, and policies — in one place.

What gel system do you use?

We use Akzéntz Professional, a Canadian gel brand founded in British Columbia. Depending on your nail condition and the look you want, we work with one of three systems:

  • Luxio — gel polish system for colour and overlays

  • Options — builder gel for structure and strength

  • Pro-Formance — hard gel for extensions and sculpted nails

All three are 100% pure gel formulas — solvent-free, odour-free, TPO-free, and hypoallergenic.

Why Akzéntz specifically?

We chose Akzéntz for the balance it strikes between beauty and nail health — smooth application, strong retention, and a glossy finish, without compromising the natural nail underneath.

Our owner, Jacqueline, is also an Akzéntz Certified Educator (ACE) — so the products we use in services are the same systems she teaches in our certificate classes.

Is the gel safe for sensitive or damaged nails?

Akzéntz formulas are designed to be gentle on natural nails while still durable and long-lasting. During your appointment, we'll assess your nail condition and recommend the system that fits your needs — that's part of why every appointment is one-on-one.

What's your cancellation policy for regular appointments?

We kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a service appointment, so we can offer the spot to another client. Please contact us directly by phone or text to cancel or reschedule.

What if I'm running late?

Please call or text us as soon as you know you'll be late. Since every appointment is one-on-one, a late arrival may mean a shorter service time to stay on schedule for the next client.

Gel and gel polish services

To ensure consistent quality of the nails we service, if your nails has gel or other nail products applied by another salon we must first remove that and an applicable removal fee will be applied.

Gel and gel polish services performed at our salon will receive a complementary fix within one week of when the service was performed.  The salon must be informed of the fix within the week even if an appointment cannot be made within that time.  The repair appointment must be made no later than the 3 days from informing us about the deficency.

What's the cancellation policy for certificate classes?

All certificate classes require advance booking, with full payment completed before or on the day of your class. Once payment is received, your instructor is reserved exclusively for you.

Once a class has been purchased — and a kit ordered, if applicable — it's non-refundable. Cancellations or rescheduling must be made at least 48 hours in advance. Last-minute cancellations release your spot, and you'll need to rebook for the next available session.

Do I need to buy a kit for my class?

It depends on the class. Our Akzéntz certificate classes (Luxio, Options, and Pro-Formance) include the nail kit in the class price — nothing extra to buy.

Nail art workshops, like the Soft Gel Nail Art Class, don't include a kit. We'll send you the exact kit list after you enroll, and you can order through our Akzentz education collection, where registered students get a discount.

If my class includes a kit, how is it shipped?

Kits are shipped prior to your class once your registration is confirmed. Shipping is available Canada-wide, and you'll receive tracking information once your kit ships.

Standard shipping runs CA$15–$35, with remote or extended areas possibly incurring additional fees. Exact shipping costs are confirmed after registration.

Are there requirements I need before class?

Most certificate classes require an e-file and LED/UV lamp (not provided), one hand free of product, and a notebook and pen. Specific requirements vary slightly by class — we'll confirm exactly what to bring when you register.

Can I combine a WaySpa gift certificate with a package or promotion?

No. WaySpa gift certificates can only be applied to individual, regular-priced services — they can't be combined with in-house packages, combo services, promotions, or rewards. We recommend choosing from our individual services when booking with a WaySpa certificate.

What happens if my service costs less than my gift certificate?

WaySpa gift certificates are redeemed in full at once — any unused value can't be refunded or stored for a future visit. We recommend choosing a service at or above your certificate value so nothing is forfeited.
